I’m having such a wonderful morning just right now. Tomorrow we are moving back to Copenhagen, been here on our lovely Iceland for the past two and a half year. Half of us, me, hubby and our almost 6 month old girl are staying at my fathers house and the rest of us, 12 years old boy, 11 years old girl and 8 years old boy are staying at my mothers house.

Since it is only the three of us here, I’m the only one awake.. it is 9:30  and I’ve been awake for two hours already. Yeah.. when you are on maternity-leave you’ll just sleep when you can and our fourth one goes to sleep for the night at about 01:00 and wakes up around 11 or 12 the next day. She’ll of course wake up during the night to have a sip or two but usually falls right back to sleep.

About this delightful morning of mine. I’m sitting in my dad’s living room listening to the radio and crocheting, still in my pyjamas . With a house full of kids, those moments when there is quiet and some space to do some random casual thinking about everything and nothing are really appreciated.

I’ve begun a new blanket…or actually I’ve started a bedspread for my daughter for the third time. First I began a granny square blanket, but got bored of it, and then I started a bubble blanket, but my impatient mind thought it would take a lot of time. But now I have designed my own square and taken a different approach to how I will keep my mind occupied .. you know, so I wont find it boring after a few squares.

I’m beginning all the squares at once. I’ve designed the final outcome of the square but the rest of the blanket I’m starting all the squares and working each row to every square.

Squares for Sunneva's bed spread

Don’t you just love my dad’s coffee table. It was my grandmothers. The pattern in the table is not unlike a crochet square!

I haven’t yet blocked them, but this is what I’m going for. Textured squares. And I’m going to crochet them together with this beige color. I think I’m using about 9 or ten colors. My girl is very colorful and many bright colors suit her flying mind well, using an earth tone to keep her connected and grounded.

Squares in the makingLook! There they all are. I’m on row three.

Best continue with my oh so lovely quiet morning.

Love.
